The Dutch GeoGuessr Championship is starting
Hilversum, January 2, 2025 – We are proud to announce the very first official Dutch GeoGuessr Championship (NK GeoGuessr)! GeoGuessr, the popular geographical game that challenges millions of players worldwide to guess locations based on Street View images, is now getting its own national tournament. From today, the official website nkgeoguessr.nl has been launched, where all information about the championship can be found.
A unique tournament format
The NK GeoGuessr will begin in March 2025 with an exciting online qualification phase. During this phase, participants will compete over several weeks in a Swiss stage and group phase (round robin) for a spot in the grand finale. Only eight players will qualify for the live final day, where the title of Dutch GeoGuessr Champion, a prize pool of €1,000, and a beautiful trophy are at stake. The final day will take place on location, while both the group phase and the final day will be fully streamed.
The Netherlands: The ultimate GeoGuessr country
In recent years, the Netherlands has proven itself to be one of the strongest countries in the international GeoGuessr community. In 2023, Consus was crowned world champion during the very first official GeoGuessr World Championship. In 2024, the Netherlands made waves again with the strong performance of Armani during the World Championship. This championship not only provides a platform for these top players but also for new talent who want to measure themselves against the best.
Registration starts on February 1
Registration for the NK GeoGuessr opens on February 1 via the website nkgeoguessr.nl. From that date, players of all levels can sign up to participate in this unique competition.
